Dream State

8x10 colored pencil/pencil/collage material/distress inks

"Twirl me about, and twirl me around
Let me grow dizzy and fall to the ground

And when I look up at you looking down,

Say it was only a dream"
-
Mary Chapin Carpenter

I really should be cleaning up my studio, so that I can get back into that room and work. I have two work tables in there that have somehow been overcome by events. Events as in projects.

My workspace has now expanded to our x-large kitchen table, leaving my husband 1/3 of the table to enjoy his breakfast and read his paper. He doesn't seem to mind. I do check with him on occasion when things begin to look like they are getting out of control.

Note to self: things are out of control.

I'm going to do something about this chaos and clean up my act.

Dreamer!

I'll leave you with this thought:
"Yesterday is but today's memory, and tomorrow is today's dream"-Kahlil Gibran

Thanks for visiting! Don't forget to mosey on over to my other blogspot: "The Way I See It"

This is so cool! Some how my studio tables end up the same way! However I am to lazy to bring it upstairs to work on so my dinning room table is safe! LOL!

I love Mary Chapin Carpenter! I have her music. My favorite song she sings is, I Take My Chances.
I wanted to thank you for comforting me in my sorrow.
love nita <3

This peice is provocative - my initial thought on opening it was a girl, fingerprints - CSI type subtext - a dark dream.

I wanted to spend more time with it and now see a súbtler more dream like kindmess. It is lyrical and softly disjointed - like dreams can be.

I see a feminine human form at top left - is my time up, doctor?

I love your collage and the lovely poem that goes with it.

The collage has a see through quality as if it is made of tissue paper. Nicely arranged too. I love the little girl's face. Almost angelic.

Artist create order out of chaos, don't they? Even if it spills onto the kitchen table.

Tomorrow's dream is to get things under control, which will be today's memory yesterday.

This piece is beautiful and absolutely fits your title today. It is so dreamy. I love the look on the girl's face, and there is a feeling of memory here also. Your work always brings back memories for me. It seems to me that is what you are working for yourself, experiences you have had, this lifetime or others. Awesome!

Our x-large kitchen table is also out of control. I use it as a second desk, so one third of it gradually gets covered by paper. This is shred and file week, also known as "oh that's where that thing went!" week.

Is it that we are in Spring Cleaving mode? Or is it Spring Cleaning, which is what I meant to write. Now I am amused by what I "accidentally" wrote.

I'll be cleaning/cleaving right along side of you tomorrow!

Andrea, I LOVE this collage. The way that you accomplished the dream feeling was very unique, it causes the image to float between reality and dream. Wonderful.

Andrea, I was so moved by your comment on my last post today. I hardly know what to say. I am sort of speechless and don't know how to find the right words to your lovely statement. Just wanted you to know that I read it and that it really impacted me. Thanks.
